Alan & Fanny

I felt really shame to admit that I have never been to Johor Bahru before. Because of Alan & Fanny wedding, it had given me the opportunity to be finally in this city.  This is the first wedding shooting with my new gear. Found a bit difficult to control this new toy at first but it was great that everything went smoothly throughout the event. Thanks to Alan and Fanny to allow me to capture the memorable moments for their big day.

Happy Chinese New Year

Woohooo…..Gong Xi Fatt Chai.

With the advice by doctor, Sylvia and I have decided to stay in KL to celebrate the Chinese New Year this year.

It was tough decision as our parents were really hoping that we can go back to Ipoh and Miri to celebrate the Chinese New Year together. I feel happy that they can understand us and support our decision. Dads and Mums – no worry, we’ll be back next year :)

Sylvia and I have been spending quite sometimes thinking what we should do in KL during this long holiday break. After considering many factors, we have decided to stay at home and cook some Chinese New Year dishes. We just miss our grandparents and parents Chinese New Year dishes.

To get the ingredients are really not a simple task. We have searched around to get fish, prawn, sea cucumber, veges and etc. It took us more than 10 days to get everything ready for the few Chinese New Year dishes.

After going through all the preparations and cookings, we realised how difficult it was for our parents to get the Reunion dinner ready for everyone in the family. Not only spending lots of vitamin “M” but also the effort to get it ready – I believe none of us will disagree that our parents always prepare our favourite dishes during Chinese New Year.  Guys, how many of us have help out the parents in this big day and how many of us have participate in the preparation?

We really had great times these two days – waking up in the morning, preparing the ingredients, cooking the dishes, eating and cleaning after the meal. We’re happy not just because the taste of the food (i was the chef :o ) but the entire process and the time we spent together in this big day. Erm….i think our princess is happy too as she kept moving mummy’s tummy throughout the meal . Hopefully she was not complaining that daddy food is not tasty :)

Would like to take this opportunity to wish everyone a Happy Chinese New Year and Gong Xi Fatt Chai!

Happy Birthday!!

To be honest, I can’t remember when was the last time I celebrated my birthday in town. If I remember correctly, I always got overseas assignments on my birthday (Boss, are you reading this blog now :) ).  And I still remember I celebrated my longest birthday in my life (so far) in 2007. I celebrated my birthday in KL in the morning with my wife (who was still my girlfriend then..hehe), then celebrated next  in Taipei in the evening, after that in LA in the evening (due to different time zone) and followed by Seattle in the night time. That was such a fantastic experience!

Great that I can celebrate my birthday in KL this time around (yahooooo…….).  Thanks to my colleagues in the office for organizing a small but memorable birthday party. Luckily, they still know I don’t take chocolate :)

Thanks to Jason for taking this photo.

I just can’t wait for next year to celebrate my birthday together with my new little princess. Again, boss, are you reading this? :)

Hong Kong & Macau – Food :-)

Just to share some foods that I love very much during my Hong Kong & Macau trip. Enjoy….:)

Hong Kong & Macau

Hong Kong & Macau, a place that I wish to go for long time for a very simple reason -> the FOOD. This trip was decided in the very last minute due to some last minute changes. I went with my wife, mother-in-law and brother-in-law. The trip started not so well as planned as we don’t quite like Macau. And making it worse, my 24-105 F4 lens went malfunction due to aperture failure in the morning before we depart for Hong Kong. Guess what? I couldn’t use any aperture smaller than F4. What a disaster to encounter this during a vacation! As a temporary resolution, I stick with F4 all the time for all shootings. Although I missed many nice shots, I still enjoy our times in Hong Kong.  People we met here were polite (unlike those described badly on some of blogs).  The food? Thumbs up. I love the food here especially the street food. Hong Kong (sorry, not Macau), I will come back again for the food J. Erm…not to forget, I also brought back a big souvenir for myself from Hong Kong – 24-70 f2.8 lens.
